This NOFO is currently forecasted, and subject to change.
Estimated post date: May 29, 2026
The Esther Martinez Immersion (EMI) program provides funding for community-based projects that ensure continuing vitality of Native languages through immersion-based instruction. EMI projects must meet the requirements for either a Native American language nest or a Native American language survival school, both of which are immersive, site-based educational programs for children.
Your organization must:
- provide 500 hours of language immersion instruction to school-age children each year of the project, and
- submit an official document that certifies your organization has at least three years of experience operating and administering a Native American language survival school, a Native American language nest, or an educational program in which instruction is through Native American language immersion.
